Summer 2010 Camps

Summertime… who didn’t enjoy the great weather we experienced this year? Wow! I loved every moment I got to be in the sun and in the water. Summertime for LAUNCH also means being able to enjoy the weather because of our involvement in a variety of summer camps. This summer was our busiest because we began another partnership with Camp Mini-Yo-We. During the May long-weekend I taught the Leaders-In-Training (LIT) about growing in their self-awareness and did a demo of our 360 leadership assessment. Starting this year each LIT will be taking the 360 leadership assessment as part of their LIT experience with the hope of assisting each one to learn more about their strengthens and weaknesses and to help them put a growth plan together to help them grow in a few areas while they were serving in their placements.

I also had the opportunity to teach at Ontario Pioneer Camp in their LIT program during both their July and August sessions. This has been the third consecutive year I have been invited to participate in the LIT program. It has been personally rewarding to develop relationships with the staff who give so much of their lives during the summer to be instruments of Jesus to touch the lives of the students that come. Having the opportunity to speak into the lives of these students is very exciting for me, knowing that God is and will be challenging each one of them to bring the truth of the Gospel to their schools and communities in the upcoming year.

Carl Nash, our director, taught at the CEO program at Muskoka Woods for both their July and August sessions. Students were challenged to grow in their self-awareness as well as in the skills of casting vision and strategic planning.  They were encouraged to consider how they might be able to use these new skills to meet needs in their community and to understand more about living out God’s Kingdom and learning what He desires for their lives.
