Horizons Girls Conference – Update
The Horizons Girls Conference on May 1, 2010 brought over 160 girls together for an afternoon of teaching and an evening of inspiration and worship. Katrina, along with her team of over 30 volunteers, envisioned, planned, coordinated and carried out this event held at Unionville Alliance Church in Markham to encourage and inspire young girls in their identity and self-worth.
The conference provided 2 workshops (“How to Make an Impact at School” and “Telling ‘Your Story’”). Anne Fleetwood, a LAUNCHee Alumni, was the keynote speaker at the main sessions, and Katrina led the musical worship with her team. At the end of the night, girls were challenged to let go of lies in their lives, physically and spiritually leaving them on the cross, and picking up a take-away pin that said “it’s a new day”.
“There was great feedback of how God is working in girls’ lives and how the conference affected them,” Katrina explains.
